We finally get a ported version of the latest rom from the Slim Roms and that is SlimKat - based off the latest Android version 4.4.2 KitKat and developed unofficially by f4k from xda-developers forums.

slimkat galaxy s4 mini
SlimKat rom is another aftermarket firmware like CyanogenMod, AOKP, etc, based of the AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This unofficial build comes pretty light with a very low number of pre-installed applications. In terms of performance, it does well and everything else that I personally tried out appears to be working flawlessly.

Just like the Carbon ROM, this particular build also seems to have the bad video preview quality on the camera but the final result is a good looking video with 1080p quality that it's meant to have from the Galaxy S4 mini's camera.

Please do keep in mind that this build is a RC (release candidate) and the Slim team are still working on improvements and implementing more features. When a new version with more features is out and developer f4k has updated us with a newer build, it will be posted.
